About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 nurses to join our Elective Orthopaedic ward-based team at Ormskirk District General Hospital.

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and clinical skills within the clinical setting with support of our dedicated nursing and therapy team in Planned Care at Ormskirk.

Whether you are an experienced nurse who is looking for a new challenge or a newly qualified nurse at the beginning of your career pathway we have the role for you.

This opportunity, on the Ormskirk site will enhance your professional development through evidence-based practice alongside offering a programme of support in your induction and ongoing training.

There is also opportunity to work on our post operative rehabilitation ward also here at Ormskirk.

You will be responsible for :-

The admission and post operative care of elective orthopaedic patients. Ensuring the safe and effective delivery of care. Working closely with therapy team and other allied health professionals to ensure safe and timely discharge. - Continue professionally developing and providing evidence based practice Ensuring that the NMC code of conduct is upheld at all times Ensure the delivery of the trusts vision "5 STAR PATIENT CARE" and uphold the values underpinning this.

Providing adult community services for St Helens and a wheelchair service in Chorley, South Ribble, and West Lancashire. Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Experience of working in a clinical environment Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team An understanding of national, regional, and local NHS issues Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels. Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own workload. Ability to de-escalate complex situations Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team. Awareness of the need for confidentiality at all times Computer literacy e.g. experience of electronic patient record
