About this role

Build Your Career Across Europe with Centum Engineering

Centum Engineering is a rapidly growing engineering company delivering major projects across Europe.

With an expanding portfolio of projects across Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and other European locations, we are continuing to strengthen our teams with experienced professionals who want to develop their careers within a growing international business.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team on one of Europe's most modern and advanced Data Centre projects in Sweden.

The current project is scheduled to continue until February 2027. However, with several additional Centum projects commencing across Europe well before this date, we see this as a full-time, ongoing career opportunity, rather than a position limited to one individual project.

The Role

As the Health & Safety Advisor on site, you will act as the eyes and ears of Centum's Health & Safety function, maintaining a strong and visible safety presence throughout the project.

You will work closely with site management, supervisors, operatives, clients and contractors to ensure that high standards of health, safety and compliance are maintained at all times.

Although this is a site-based position, you will have the ongoing support of our Health & Safety Director and wider management team based at our Head Office in Toomebridge, Northern Ireland.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Promoting and maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture across the project.

• Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.

• Identifying hazards and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

• Reviewing and assisting with RAMS, permits and other site safety documentation.

• Supporting site management and supervisors with day-to-day Health & Safety matters.

• Delivering toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings where required.

• Monitoring compliance with company, client and project-specific Health & Safety procedures.

• Investigating incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions and assisting with corrective actions.

• Maintaining accurate Health & Safety records, reports and documentation.

• Liaising with client representatives and other contractors regarding Health & Safety matters.

• Ensuring that lessons learned and areas for improvement are communicated effectively.

• Providing a visible, approachable and proactive Health & Safety presence on site.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is confident working within a busy construction or engineering environment and who is comfortable engaging with people at all levels.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor, HSE Advisor, EHS Advisor or similar.

• Experience within construction, electrical, mechanical, engineering or Data Centre environments.

• A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent.

• Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, risk assessment and safe systems of work.

• Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.

• Experience reviewing RAMS and other Health & Safety documentation.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Confidence challenging unsafe behaviours in a professional and constructive manner.

• Strong organisational and reporting skills.

• The ability to work independently while remaining part of a wider European Health & Safety team.

• Data Centre experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other large-scale construction or engineering environments are encouraged to apply.

Rotation & Travel Package

We understand that working internationally needs to work around life at home. For this reason, the position can operate on either:

3 weeks on site / 1 week at home

or

6 weeks on site / 2 weeks at home

When mobilising to Sweden, Centum Engineering will arrange your flights, accommodation and transport to and from site, allowing you to concentrate on the job without having to manage the logistics yourself.

Why Join Centum?

This is an opportunity to join Centum Engineering at an exciting stage of our continued European growth.

We are not simply recruiting for one project. We want to identify talented Health & Safety professionals who can become part of the Centum team and potentially progress with us across future projects and locations.
