Rotation: Three weeks on / one week off

Salary/package: Depending on experience, qualifications and jointing capability

The role

Centum Engineering is recruiting four experienced Cable Jointers to support electrical installations across data centre, pharmaceutical and heavy industrial projects.

You will carry out cable jointing, termination and associated testing on systems up to 66kV, working within your qualifications, training and project authorisations. You will take ownership of the quality of your work, maintain accurate records and help organise a safe, productive jointing team.

Know your cables. Prepare properly. Get the detail right. We’re looking for people who take pride in their workmanship and follow the job through from preparation to final checks.

This is a hands-on site role suited to experienced jointers who are comfortable travelling, working on rotation and supporting teams across different project locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out jointing and termination of XLPE cables and associated accessories in line with approved drawings, manufacturer instructions and project specifications.
  • Check cable types, sizes, jointing kits and termination components before starting work, identifying discrepancies early.
  • Maintain the preparation, cleanliness and working conditions required to deliver reliable joints and terminations.
  • Read and interpret cable schedules, technical drawings, installation instructions and relevant project documentation.
  • Carry out or support cable testing within your competence and authorisation, recording results and escalating defects or unexpected readings.
  • Follow approved RAMS, permit-to-work arrangements and site safety procedures. Confirm the required isolation and safety controls are in place before starting work.
  • Lead and coordinate a jointing team where required, allocating tasks, briefing colleagues and checking work quality.
  • Mentor less experienced team members and reinforce safe working practices and consistent installation standards.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers and other trades to ensure work areas, materials, access and equipment are ready.
  • Maintain accurate jointing records, test documentation, progress updates and quality checklists using project systems.
  • Identify problems early, help resolve technical issues and raise anything that could affect safety, quality or programme.
  • Look after tools, testing equipment and PPE, reporting damage, defects or calibration requirements.
  • Complete relevant training to maintain and develop your jointing capability as project and market requirements evolve.

What you will bring

  • Previous recognised cable jointing experience within a DNO, data centre, pharmaceutical or heavy industrial environment.
  • Relevant cable jointing training, qualifications or manufacturer certification appropriate to the work undertaken.
  • Practical experience with XLPE cables, associated joints and terminations.
  • Experience carrying out or supporting cable testing, with a clear understanding of your competence and authorisation limits.
  • A careful, methodical approach to cable preparation, installation and quality checks.
  • The ability to lead, mentor and organise a jointing team.
  • English proficiency sufficient to understand technical instructions, take part in safety briefings and communicate clearly on site.
  • IT literacy and confidence completing digital records, checklists and progress reports.
  • Strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • A full driving licence.
  • A valid EU passport.
  • Current Manual Handling and Working at Heights training.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe and work a three-weeks-on / one-week-off rotation.

Tell us the voltage levels you have worked on, the cable systems and accessories you know, and the jointing qualifications you hold. We want to understand what you can deliver safely and confidently.

What you can expect

  • A package reflecting your experience, qualifications and technical capability.
  • Flights and accommodation provided for project deployment.
  • All tools and PPE provided.
  • Additional training where required for your assigned work.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills across varied electrical projects.
  • Potential progression into further HV jointing work, subject to demonstrated competence, attitude, successful training and project requirements.
  • The opportunity to take responsibility, support your team and build your career with Centum Engineering.
