Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team at Sphynx. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a high level of expertise in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform accounting entries and manage month-end and year-end closing proceduresPrepare and submit tax declarations (VAT, income tax, withholding taxes, etc.) and monitor/manage MYDATAAssist with tax audits and manage ad-hoc tax issues with external consultantsBank reconciliations and other reconciliation of ledger subsystems (fixed and intangible assets, customers, suppliers, receivables, payables)Ensuring clients and vendors’ compliance with tax laws, regulatory provisions, and accounting standardsLead monthly financial closing process, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations.Maintain continuous, in-depth knowledge of changes in tax legislation and accounting standardsLead ERP integration and implementation by providing in depth knowledge and enhance efficiency and effectivenessDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsEnd-to end Payroll remuneration knowledge will be considered as a plusPrepare periodic management reporting (monthly/quarterly) including P&L analysis, balance sheet reviews, and cash flow monitoringParticipate and support the budgeting process (financial performance versus budget, forecasts, and prior periods, identifying key variances and underlying drivers)Participate and support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical analysis, trend analysis, and cost behavior insightsMonitor key financial and operational KPIs and contribute to management dashboardsSupport ad-hoc financial analysis requests related to pricing, cost control, profitability, and investment decisionsCollaborate with senior management to improve financial visibility and decision supportRequirements
QualificationsUniversity degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration5–7 years of relevant work experience (preferably)Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles, laws, and regulationsFamiliarity with Greek GAAP and IFRSSolid experience in year-end procedures and preparation of Financial StatementsExcellent knowledge of accounting software such as Epsilon Net, SoftOne, Entersoft, Pylon.Excellent command of MS Office, especially Excel, and internet proficiencyExcellent command of EnglishCertification from SOEL or ACCA or other professional body will be highly valuedSkillsAbility to effectively coordinate company departmentsReliability, integrity, professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative spiritExcellent interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively both within a team and independentlyHigh-quality execution of responsibilities in terms of time, efficiency, and budgetAbility to work under pressure, attention to detail while maintaining a broader perspectiveExperience in handling complex accounting processesBenefits
