About this role
Work Year: 185 days The William S. Hart Union High School District is seeking qualified and dedicated Substitute Teachers to provide instruction and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute Teachers are responsible for following lesson plans, supporting student learning, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Duties
• Deliver instruction as outlined in the absent teacher's lesson plans
• Manage classroom behavior in accordance with district policies
• Create a respectful and inclusive learning environment
• Adapt instructional methods when needed to meet student needs
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, the quad, and/or during field trips
• Maintain accurate attendance records
• Communicate with site administration as needed regarding student issues or concerns
• Follow all district and school site procedures and protocols
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university: Science, Math, or Special Education
• Valid California teaching credential or
• California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit (District may assist with application process)
• Successful background check and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous teaching or substitute experience
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including English learners and students with disabilities
• Strong classroom management skills
Work Schedule
• As needed, assignments may be for full days, partial days, or multiple days
• Flexible scheduling based on availability and district needs
Compensation
• $190 per day for daily substitute assignments
• Long-term rate (after 20 consecutive days in the same assignment): $311.02 per day
