About this role
Primary Purpose Provide instructional services to eligible students with disabilities who are unable to attend school due to medical or other qualifying conditions. The Homebound Teacher delivers instruction aligned with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and district curriculum in order to support academic progress and compliance with state and federal requirements. Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide direct instruction to assigned homebound students in accordance with IEP goals and service minutes.
• Plan and deliver instruction that is aligned with district curriculum and adapted to meet individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and campus administrators to ensure continuity of services.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding instructional activities, student expectations, and progress.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including lesson plans, attendance records, progress monitoring data, and other required reports.
• Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings and provide input regarding student performance and instructional needs.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies to support student access to the curriculum.
• Comply with all federal, state, and district regulations related to special education services.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records in accordance with district policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education/Certification
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required Special Education endorsement.
Special Knowledge/Skills
• Knowledge of special education procedures, IEP development, and implementation.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and best practices for diverse learners.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage instructional services in a non-traditional setting.
Experience
• Prior teaching experience in special education preferred.
• Experience providing individualized instruction and implementing accommodations/modifications preferred.

• Frequent district-wide travel to student homes and/or other approved instructional sites.

Work Schedule & Compensation
• Part-time position; hours determined by student service requirements and IEPs.
• Compensation in accordance with district pay scale and relevant experience.
