Main duties of the job
Welcoming and assisting patients in a professional and friendly manner.Answering telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries.Booking, cancelling and managing patient appointments.Registering patients and maintaining accurate and confidential records.Processing prescriptions and other administrative requests.Liaising with GPs, nurses, hospitals and other healthcare professionals.Managing patient queries and directing them to the appropriate service.Supporting patients to access the most appropriate healthcare service for their needs.Assessing patient enquiries and signposting to GPs, nurses, pharmacies, community services and other providers.Coordinating appointments, referrals and follow-up care.Supporting patients with access to community and social care services.Providing clear information and guidance while maintaining patient confidentiality.Working closely with the wider healthcare team to ensure patients receive appropriate and timely support.

We are a forward thinking, busy and friendly general practice with over 19,000 patients and around 50 staff across 3 sites and are looking to recruit an experienced Part Time Mobile Medical Receptionist to join our supportive, enthusiastic and friendly team. The successful applicant will need excellent communication and IT skills. They will need to be flexible as they may be asked to cover for sickness and holiday leave.
Contracted hours are 25 hours per week over 5 days on a rota basis. You may also be asked to cover on Saturdays at a premium rate.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Previous experience in a reception, administrative or customer service role, preferably within a healthcare setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, professional and compassionate approach to patients. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload. Good IT and computer skills, with the ability to learn new systems. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Understanding of confidentiality and the importance of protecting patient information. Reliable, punctual and professional. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging or sensitive situations. Must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Desirable
Previous experience working within a GP practice, NHS or healthcare environment. Experience using clinical system - SystmOne. Knowledge of NHS services and healthcare pathways. Experience in care navigation or signposting patients to appropriate services. Good understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection. Willingness to undertake training and develop professionally. Ability to work flexibly and support the wider practice team. A positive, proactive and solution-focused approach.
