St Roccos ethos is to support people in the Warrington community from the moment they are diagnosed with an illness that is no longer curable. We look after people over the age of 18 years with any kind of life-limiting illness, this can include heart failure, respiratory conditions, and neurological diseases.

IPU Matron and Registered ManagerJob SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join St Rocco's Hospice as IPU Matron and Registered Manager.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the post holder will provide strategic, professional and operational leadership for the In-Patient Unit whilst holding responsibility as the CQC Registered Manager for clinical services across the organisation.

As a senior clinician, you will demonstrate expert clinical judgement, advanced decision-making and a commitment to delivering outstanding specialist palliative and end of life care. You will work collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer, Medical Director and senior clinical teams to develop services, support workforce development and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.

The successful candidate will be a highly visible leader who promotes a positive culture of clinical excellence, innovation, quality improvement and continuous learning, while championing the hospice's values and behaviours.

Main Duties of the JobProvide leadership and operational management for the In-Patient Unit and support the wider delivery of clinical services across the hospice.Hold responsibility as the CQC Registered Manager for clinical services and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.Support the Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director in the development and implementation of clinical strategy and service improvement initiatives.Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred specialist palliative and end of life care in line with NMC, CQC and organisational standards.Act as a visible role model, promoting a culture of compassion, professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement.Exercise advanced clinical judgement and decision-making in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.Lead and support multidisciplinary teams to provide safe, effective and responsive services.Work collaboratively with the Outreach Matron to ensure seamless delivery of care across inpatient and community services.Maintain oversight of clinical governance, risk management, incident reporting, safeguarding and quality assurance processes.Lead workforce planning activities, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, skill mix and effective use of resources.Supervise, mentor, appraise and develop staff to support professional growth and high standards of performance.Support the development and implementation of evidence-based practice, clinical audit and service evaluation.Ensure accurate clinical records and documentation are maintained in accordance with legal, professional and organisational requirements.Work in partnership with healthcare providers, social care organisations, voluntary sector partners and local stakeholders to support integrated care pathways.Promote patient and family involvement in service development and quality improvement initiatives.Monitor performance, activity and patient experience data, reporting outcomes, trends and risks to senior leadership.Work collaboratively within agreed budgets and support the effective use of resources across clinical services.Promote a culture of health and safety, infection prevention, safeguarding and information governance throughout the organisation.Act as an ambassador for St Rocco's Hospice and promote hospice services within the local health and care community.Person RequirementsThe successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial experience within palliative care, hospice care or a related clinical setting. Applicants should demonstrate significant experience of leading clinical teams, service development, quality improvement and change management.

A degree in Nursing (or willingness to work towards one), relevant palliative care qualifications and the ability to meet the requirements for CQC Registered Manager registration are essential.

Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills are required, together with a commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centered care and supporting staff to achieve their full potential.

Qualifications Essential

Education/Qualifications 1st level Registered General Nurse. First Degree in Nursing or willing to work towards. Relevant additional qualification/s in palliative care. Meet the CQC criteria and interview process to enable registration of registered manager with CQC. Knowledge/experience/skills Significant experience of working in a community environment Demonstrate a high level of experience in delivering palliative care Significant experience of managing and developing people Experience of leading and managing change Experience of mentoring staff Leadership qualities Experience of using IT software Independent working Organisational and interpersonal skills Record keeping Time management Communication Clinical Audit Report writing and presentation skills Critical thinking Advanced Communication skills training Senior Leadership / Management 2 year experience at senior level Personal Qualities Ability to work flexibly to demands and managing an unpredictable work pattern. Car driver with, a current valid driving licence with insurance to cover for business purposes.
