About this role

Job summary

The post holder will be a member of one of the many research teams based at one of the UHB sites and responsible for supporting the research staff. They will be responsible for providing data management, and research administrative support, as needed for clinical study activities.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to databases for clinical studies and registries of research patients for local and national research projects. This will require the post holder to combine their IT knowledge with knowledge of the clinical research process.

We have active Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement programmes that are crucial to our research and the post holder will be involved in supporting these.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills and will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Main duties of the job

Ensure effective data and data quality management and reporting for studies undertaken within the Clinical Research Facility.

The post holder will work as part of a team of data management/study coordination staff providing comprehensive data management and trial coordination support to the department.

Responsibilities will include ensuring that clinical data required for CRF adopted trials are completed, validated, and returned to study sponsors in an accurate and timely fashion, promoting high quality research, both within the Trust, nationally and internationally.

The post holder will work as part of a team that provides the focal point for information requests and queries within the department.

The post holder will ensure the clinical data collection, entry and transfer of information is of the highest standard and will be expected to be part of a team which develops the existing data storage systems and processes associated with them, as the needs of the service change.

The post is part of a team of data and study coordination staff in the CRF and as such the post holder will be expected to work as part of this team, providing cover for other members of the team when necessary and working together to pro-actively improve data management within the department.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

*Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent) *Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment.

Desirable

*Education to A level or equivalent

Experience Essential

*Knowledge of dealing with non-routine issues such as problem solving for an area of work *Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience *Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook) *Experience of using IT systems *Understand confidentiality and apply the principles in every day working practice *Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity

Desirable

*Evidence of administrative or clinical audit experience in an NHS setting *Knowledge of medical terminology *Working knowledge of patient confidentiality/ Caldicott guidelines *Awareness of Research Governance as far as it affects collection of research Study data
