QualificationsTo qualify at the GS-08 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Leading accounting functions that may include conducting analyses, classification, adjustments, reconciliation, and other related activities. Validating data, preparing consolidated reports, and verifying the accuracy of accounting functions performed withing the work area. Using automated accounting systems to review transactions, balances, and perform related account management functions. Providing non-supervisory oversight on team workloads and providing input on training needs and team member performance. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Lead Accounting Technician and be responsible for providing accounting support for the more complex accounts which may involve a large number of organizations and programs and/or which require analyses and accounting determinations within a complete accounting system.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Controlling subsidiary accounts for interrelated classes, resolving complex account discrepancies through analysis and corrective entries, prepares trial balance schedules to show account status. Conducting comparative analyzing, preparing supporting scheduling, adjusting then reconciling accounts, computing data, determining causes of variances. Maintaining expenditure accounts, verifying transaction processing for control, analyzing reports to identify deficiencies, recommending corrective measures. Planning workload distribution; balances assignments; monitors progress; providing on-the-job training.
