Job SummaryYou will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Carrier/Surface Ships Work Packaging and Control (WPC) Branch (227), Process Controls Division (220), Office of the Chief Engineer (240), Engineering and Planning Department (200), NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying engineering concepts, principles, methods, precedents, and techniques to evaluate and apply the latest developments and techniques in solving problems, identify, evaluate and recommend solutions for resolution of high visibility and complex process documentation and process improvement opportunities. Experience as a Work Packaging Control Manager developing work packaging strategies for complex overhauls. Experience interfacing directly with shops and project zone managers to resolve job package issues. Experience utilizing written and verbal communication skills in an administrative supervisory function, such as making plans, assigning work, setting objectives, and policy and procedure development. Major DutiesYou will review lessons learned from precedent projects to incorporate productivity and work packaging improvements.You will manage the work packaging function, ensuring problems are resolved and delays are overcome for all aspects of work packaging and job preparation.You will identify, package and assemble all work documentation, equipment, special tools and materials to meet schedules.
