Job Title: Prep Cook – Premium Airport HospitalityJob DescriptionThis role focuses on delivering high-quality food preparation and service in a fast-paced, premium hospitality environment at the San Francisco airport. You will support high-volume kitchen operations, prepare food for both à la carte and buffet service, and help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace while collaborating closely with the kitchen team. Responsibilities • Perform prep work for both à la carte and buffet service, following established recipes and portion standards. • Support high-volume kitchen operations with consistency, speed, and attention to detail. • Prepare ingredients and menu items across multiple cuisines, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met. • Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and dishwashing areas. • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food storage and handling procedures. • Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety regulations. • Assist with dishwashing and clean-up tasks as needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly. • Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure timely and accurate food production. • Provide friendly and professional customer service when interacting with guests or front-of-house staff. • Work independently and as part of a team to complete prep lists and daily production goals. • Adhere to airport access requirements, including maintaining necessary badges and credentials. • Commit to scheduled shifts and weekend work, following assigned days off and shift times. Essential Skills • Experience in food preparation and foodservice, preferably in high-volume prep environments. • Hands-on experience as a prep cook, line cook, or in similar kitchen roles. • Ability to perform food prep tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards. • Strong understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices. • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation and support overall kitchen clean-up. • Customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with guests and team members. • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Active Food Handler’s Card and adherence to local food handler requirements. • Ability to obtain and maintain a T-badge for airport access. • Willingness to commit to a minimum of 1 month in the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in fast-paced, premium hospitality or airport foodservice environments is preferred. • Comfort working with multiple cuisines and diverse menu offerings. • Previous union environment experience is helpful but not required. • Strong time management skills to handle high-volume prep and service periods. • Attention to detail in food presentation, portioning, and quality control. Work EnvironmentThis position is based at the San Francisco airport in a busy, high-volume kitchen that supports premium hospitality services. You work in a fast-paced environment that requires standing for extended periods, moving between prep stations, line areas, and dishwashing zones. The kitchen operates across multiple shifts, with available schedules such as 12:00 pm–8:00 pm and 3:00 pm–11:30 pm, and regular weekend work; typical days off fall on Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday, depending on the shift. You must maintain an active T-badge for airport access and comply with all onsite safety and security protocols. The environment emphasizes strict food safety, temperature monitoring, and cleanliness standards, with access to standard commercial kitchen equipment and tools. Free parking is provided for staff, and the setting reflects the pace and professionalism of a premium airport hospitality operation. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Francisco, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.15 - $26.15/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
