Job Title: Quality InspectorJob DescriptionThe Quality Inspector monitors and inspects production activities to ensure that all products meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role conducts first article, in-process, and final inspections, supports quality assurance initiatives, and collaborates with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues, maintain accurate quality records, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.Responsibilities
• Monitor and inspect production processes to verify that quality standards are consistently upheld. • Train and supervise quality assurance staff to ensure procedures are understood and followed. • Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures that support business and customer requirements. • Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions. • Collaborate with suppliers to maintain the quality of incoming materials and services. • Perform quality assurance tasks as needed to support business operations and customer needs. • Perform first article and first piece inspections at the beginning of each production run to verify that all requirements are met. • Report discrepancies related to material, process, or design issues and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders. • Interface with Production, Inside Sales, Engineering, Program Management, and Customer Representatives to address quality-related matters. • Conduct roving sample inspections and quality audits in designated areas according to documentation packages, including drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and procedures. • Ensure continuous flow of acceptable products to customers by verifying conformity to customer documentation and IPC workmanship criteria. • Identify and report in-process concerns and discrepancies, working closely with Production and Engineering personnel to resolve issues. • Perform 100% final inspection to confirm that material quality, process requirements, and overall quality performance have been achieved prior to shipment. • Ensure that all product acceptance decisions and discrepancies are properly documented in accordance with company and customer requirements. • Perform mechanical and visual inspections in Receiving Inspection and mechanical areas to verify the quality of incoming turn-key materials and other services. • Maintain accurate and complete quality records for evaluating the performance of external vendors and internal processes. • Research customer history and use prior experience to determine part acceptance when judgment-based decisions are required. • Act independently to resolve problems by exercising initiative and discretion beyond specifically described job duties and responsibilities. • Comply with all company policies and procedures related to quality, safety, and operations. Essential Skills
• IPC-610 training with prior manufacturing experience, including knowledge of soldering and electronic component recognition. • Ability to perform detailed mechanical and visual inspections, including first article, in-process, and final inspections. • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills with the ability to write clear and accurate correspondence. • Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment. • Capability to accurately chart, record, and interpret inspection and test data. • Physical ability to repetitively lift, stand, climb, bend, and perform other tasks required in a manufacturing environment. • Proficiency in using small hand measuring tools such as calipers and test lights. • Ability to perform microscope inspection and detailed visual inspection of parts and assemblies. • Experience with quality inspection, quality control, first article inspection, and final inspection activities. • Ability to conduct visual inspection and BOM-based verification of parts and assemblies. • Skill in interfacing effectively with Production, Inside Sales, Engineering, Program Management, and Customer Representatives. • Strong judgment and decision-making skills for determining part acceptance based on experience and available data. • Ability to act independently, exercise initiative, and resolve problems within and beyond defined responsibilities. • Commitment to comply with company policies and procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Familiarity with J-STD-001 processes and standards is preferred. • Knowledge of ISO9001 quality management systems is preferred. • Understanding of AS9100 quality requirements for aerospace is preferred. • Exposure to ISO13485 quality systems for medical devices is preferred. • Experience maintaining quality records for vendor performance and internal process evaluation. • Experience in microscope inspection and detailed visual inspection of electronic and mechanical components. • Experience in inspection of turn-key materials and services in a receiving inspection environment. • Ability to conduct quality audits using drawings, BOMs, and documented procedures. • Experience applying IPC workmanship criteria to assess product conformity. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
