1. Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

2. Job Profile
The CH & Nutrition officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation and providing technical support for RI’s community health and nutrition program in NWS. The position holder shall ensure quality implementation of project activities and shall build capacity for CHWs & HF nutrition staff, ensure timely and quality program reporting and sound budget management. He/ She will participate in nutrition and community health related coordination mechanisms inside Syria.
3. Key Responsibilities
Activities’ implementation:
• Provide leadership and support to CH and Nutrition teams in the community and HFs.
• Oversee the development and implementation of CH and nutrition activities, support detailed implementation planning exercises and budget forecasts.
• Ensure timely achievement of high-quality deliverables, ensuring that technical quality and standards are upheld during project implementation.
• Access CH and nutrition activities progress continuously through lessons learned, field assessments and provide corrective measures where applicable.
• Conduct regular field visits to project’s locations to monitor, observe, and support the activities’ implementation and its consistence with RI’s policies and donor’s guidelines.
• With support of other RI’s teams, recruit implementing staff in each project
• Assess the capacity of CHWs and nutrition staff in the HFs and identify capacity gaps
• Organize and conduct training programs on CH and nutrition as per guidelines of CH TWG and Nutrition Cluster
• Ensure development and rollout of a monitoring and evaluation and supervision system to quantify and verify the activities
• Facilitate joint supervisions with other departments’ team of RI to monitor progress and review performance of RI work on outreach and nutrition (IYCF+ CMAM+ nutrition screening).
• Develop spending plans for the assigned budget lines related to community health activities
• Interface closely with the WASH team to ensure key messages are consistent.
• In line with the international related standards and within the protection framework, lead the process of development of the training curriculum, IEC tools, and any other related activities ensuring the adapted product to be scientifically consistent, culturally sensitive, age and gender compatible
• Attend regular meetings with the project administration when requested by line manager.
• Managing community health and nutrition programs and initiatives, which includes coordinating various resources, events, and activities. and keeps projects on track.
• Assist in data collection and oversee the process to ensure high quality reporting of progress against proposal indicators and program quality indicators (this includes CMAM quality indicators).
• Interpret data collected on CH and Nutrition components as required and present it to line manager.
• Compile the CH and nutrition monthly activities reports from the field, conduct data analysis to inform decision making and implementation.
• Represent RI in nutrition and CH coordination mechanism at the field level.
• Where appropriate, work closely with partner organizations in completing the above tasks.
• Any other task as assigned by the line manager
4. Person Specification
Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
• Bachelor’s degree in medicine, public health, human nutrition, or other related health fields.
• At least 2 years’ experience in the implementation of community health and/or nutrition programs
• Experience in the implementation of CMAM and maternal infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN)
• Experience in the implementation of community health program
• Good command of written & oral English and Arabic skills
• Flexible in schedule, attitude, and work processes.
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google software, particularly Google Drive, Gmail, Google Docs, MS Word and MS Excel. Adobe suite preferred.
