About this role

Job summary

The Radiology Directorate at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is a busy, forward-thinking service committed to delivering high-quality patient care. We are seeking an organised, motivated and proactive individual to join us as Patient Flow Coordinator, supporting smooth and efficient patient movement through our Interventional Radiology department at New Cross Hospital.

You will play a key role in coordinating inpatient, outpatient, cancer and urgent bookings, ensuring that patients are prioritised appropriately and that all necessary information is in place to support a seamless diagnostic and therapeutic journey.

As outlined in the Job Description, you will coordinate the flow of patients through the Radiology department ensuring a high standard of care and communication at all times and act as a central point of contact for patients, referrers and clinical teams.

We are looking for candidates with strong administrative experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires working a standard 37.5-hour week with early, late and occasional weekend shifts to support service needs.

Main duties of the job

To provide all administrative services involved in managing patient bookings for specialty areas within Interventional Radiology.

To coordinate inpatient, outpatient, cancer and urgent bookings for patients. This will involve liaising with referrers, wards, portering services, interpreting services, transport services and Allied Health Professionals.

To manage incoming telephone communications and direct queries to the appropriate departments/staff. You will have an excellent telephone manner and you will be able to deal with calls from patients and referrers into the service in a friendly, prompt and professional way.

To use a variety of computer-based systems including Web Portal, Soliton, PACS, PAS, ePMA, ICE and Teletracking. Training will be provided.

To perform a variety of other administrative duties required for coordinating patient flow through the department/service.

To collate data and provide statistical analysis of throughput, capacity & demand.

Personal Statement Essential

Qualifications Essential

Educated to GCSE or equivalent attaining a pass in a minimum of 4 subjects including English Language.

Experience Essential

Previous experience of working in a similar patient / public focused environment Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Knowledge and experience of working in an NHS environment.

Skills Essential

Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively & efficiently unsupervised
