Job summary
This is a locum appointment for 12 months that contains 10 Programmed Activities per week, delivering a fixed weekly timetable across two sites (Croydon University hospital and Kings College hospital/Denmark Hill), including catheter laboratory EP & Devices lists, EP clinics arrhythmia MDTs and ward cover. There will be an average of 8.5 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care with the remainder being allocated for Supporting Professional Activities (3 PAs at KCH and 7 PAs at CUH).
The successful applicant will be asked to participate in the EP on-call rota for Kings College Hospital (currently 1:6) and will also take part in consultant of the week inpatient ward cover in Croydon University Hospital (1:10weeks).
The post holder will be a fully trained and independent Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist. The individual will be able to perform outpatient clinics independently, run catheter laboratory electrophysiology and device lists for investigation and treatment of patients with arrhythmias and participate in the consultant of the week (at CUH) and arrhythmia on call (KCH) rotas. Qualifications Essential

Training and Experience Essential
Wide experience in all aspects of cardiology, culminating in award of CCST or equivalent. Specialist training in cardiac electrophysiology Independent operator for diagnostic EP studies, and both standard and complex catheter ablation. Independent operator for simple device implantation. Independent operator for trans-septal
Desirable
Demonstrated subspecialty interest and experience, including complex ablation. Independent operator for complex device implantation (resynchronization therapy and conduction system pacing)
Administration Essential
Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
Management and leadership Essential
Able to demonstrate leadership capability with multi-disciplinary teams

Management course and/or qualification
Audit and Quality Improvement Essential
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
Research and Publications Essential
Experience of clinical research in one or more aspects of cardiac arrhythmia care.
