About this role

Job summary Mendlesham Medical Group (Mendlesham Health Centre & Manor Farm Surgery) is looking to recruit a prescription clerk/pharmacy hatch assistant to join our busy dispensary team at Mendlesham Health Centre, supporting an important service at the heart of patient care. This is a part-time role, for 19 hours per week, to be worked on a Tuesday and Wednesday 08:30 - 18:30, with a 30 minute unpaid break each day.

The role is a mix of patient-facing hatch duties and prescription administration, helping to ensure repeat prescriptions and prescription queries are dealt with safely, accurately and within required timescales.

Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Process repeat prescription requests, ensuring these are actioned within 72 hours. Check and respond to prescription requests received via email and other approved methods. Deal with prescription queries from patients, community pharmacies, care homes and district nurses. Keep repeat prescribing information accurate and up to date on the clinical system (SystmOne). Send medication review letters and support the recall process where required. Arrange prescribing-related monitoring, including blood tests (via ICE) and blood pressure checks. Support the dispensary hatch service, serving patients collecting prescriptions and medication. Liaise with the clinical team regarding prescription and medicine management queries. Assist with prescribing incentive work, including reports and letters, in line with guidance. Provide general dispensary administration and support the wider team as required. Work flexibly across both sites and maintain up-to-date knowledge of prescribing guidance and practice procedures.

About us Mendlesham Medical Group is a friendly, rural GP practice based across two sites Mendlesham Health Centre and Manor Farm Surgery, located approximately four miles apart. We provide care to around 7,800 patients and are proud to offer a supportive and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.

Our team includes GP Partners, salaried GPs, a Nurse Practitioner, and experienced nursing, dispensary and administrative teams who work closely together to provide high quality, patient-centred care.
