POSITION OVERVIEW

The Volunteer Services Coordinator position fills the volunteer needs of the staff and residents, recruiting volunteers from association churches and the broader community, conducts volunteer screening (including background checks), interviewing, new volunteer orientation and training, provides volunteer recognition and maintains informative reports to enhance the quality of life of the residents at Oakwood Village.

This position reports to the campus Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES of a Volunteer Services Coordinator (not meant to be an all inclusive list)

• Works with staff and residents in identifying the current and future volunteer needs for Oakwood Village, assuring quality services to the residents through the use of volunteers.

• Proactively recruits from the associated churches, broader community, and residents. This includes effective interviewing, thorough screening, and thorough orientation assuring proper placement based upon the volunteer's abilities to meet the resident/departmental needs including making sure the volunteer understands how his/her service fits into the overall mission of Oakwood VIllage.

• Deep understanding of daily campus-wide volunteer assignments.

• Provides supervision (as needed), support and education to all volunteers working in his/her specifically designated volunteer service.

• Develops and updates volunteer assignment descriptions to reflect the current needs of residents/staff departments.

• Is present and volunteers during special large groups programs.

• Regularly communicates with staff regarding volunteer department policies and procedures.

• Plans and executes recognition of volunteers including recognition events, written acknowledgment and community public relations.

• Acts as liaison to service and other volunteer groups established through churches and the community as appropriate.

• Maintains confidential information including company information, financial reports and volunteer personnel records.

• Oversight of the volunteer operated campus stores, their inventory, training of volunteers and provides volunteer schedules, maintain point of sale system in good working condition, and problem solves as needed.

• Develops policies and processes in partnership with leadership insuring compliance with all departments and facility guidelines.

ESSSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS of a Volunteer Services Coordinator:

• Effectively communicates verbally, written and graphically.

• Efficiently carries out daily responsibilities.

• Builds and maintains solid relationships with residents, families, churches, staff and the community.

• Works collaboratively in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork in meeting the mission of Oakwood.

• Exercises independent judgement and makes sound decisions.

• Accepts flexible work schedule as needed to assure an effective volunteer services program.

• Prioritizes and organizes work in order to meet deadlines effectively.

• Maintains company and volunteer confidentiality.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING REQUIRED

• Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.

• Three to five years experience in volunteer management preferred.
