JOB TITLE: Food Rescue Coordinator Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Warehouse Operations and Procurement
SUPERVISES: None SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $23.00/Hour DOE

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of volunteer special projects within the warehouse, including inventory management, while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, and program guidelines.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares for and assists volunteers in examining perishable foods for expiration dates, quality of food – disposes of food not suitable for consumption and boxes up food suitable for distributions.
• Handles food according to safe food handling practices and guidelines
• Works in partnership with Warehouse Project Coordinator to prepare volunteer areas; works with staff to identify projects and needed supplies
• Ensure volunteers receive appropriate training, guidance, and ongoing support to perform their roles effectively.
• Collaborate with the volunteer team to support volunteer check-in.
• Coordinates with both distribution and operations staff for requirements of distributions.
• Works with Inventory Specialists on box build operations.
• Schedules work to be completed in coordination with operational requirements.
• Uses “Ceres” to maintain inventory accuracy and bar coding in accordance with warehouse procedures.
• Manage feedback from volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders involved in volunteer activities; share insights with staff to recognize successes, address areas for improvement, and enhance future volunteer experiences.
• Coordinate with Procurement Specialist on incoming commodities for repack.
• Ensures that all stock and inventory items are maintained in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards and program guidelines -- executes physical counts
• Ensures the proper maintenance and recording of inventory levels for food and nonfood items
• Maintains and safely operates all warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks; operates scales to weigh inventory items, fosters a culture of safety by prioritizing risk management.
• Assists in the maintenance and care of the facility and equipment; assists in the safety and sanitation of facilities and equipment through compliance with The Food Depot guidelines and any applicable local, state or federal laws or regulations
• Observes all local, state, and federal regulations in warehouse operations
• Reports incidents, accidents and unsafe conditions to appropriate supervisor(s) and operations;
• Able to work an irregular schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed at the direction of the Director of Operations and Procurement..
• In the office environment, employee must utilize paper and electronic documents, a keyboard, computer, phone, and printer to perform necessary job requirements.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience
• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot
• Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues
• Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests;
• Proficient in the use of computers and standard office software, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Drive) and other common business applications.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness in completing assigned tasks.

• Clean Driving Record – New Mexico Driver’s License
• Successful Completion of pallet jack and forklift Training provided by The Food Depot
Physical Environment
• Primary work is in a warehouse environment
• Must be able to get into a forklift/ pallet jack operate all of the controls
• Employee can be exposed to hot or cold temperatures
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• The employee must be able to load and unload items into and out of truck
• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
