About the team and the role The Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C) team focuses on making selling and buying locally simpler, more relevant, and more trusted. The team works across search and discovery, local marketplace experiences, payments, and messaging to identify customer problems, shape product strategy, and improve marketplace outcomes.

As Manager, Data Science - Analytics 1 in the Indian Analytics Centre, you will be a strategic analytics partner for the C2C Local, M2M and adjacent product areas. You will operate in a highly dynamic environment, take broad or ambiguous business questions, structure them into answerable analytical problems, and convert complex findings into compelling narratives and clear actions. The role combines advanced hands-on analytics with strong influence over collaborators. It requires someone who is dedicated, proactive, outgoing, and comfortable crafting clarity when the path is not predefined. What you will accomplish

• Own strategic and product analytics for C2C Local and related customer journeys, including search ranking, local discovery, distance accuracy, marketplace flows, payments, and messaging experiences.

• Translate broad leadership and product questions into structured analytical plans, clear hypotheses, measurable success criteria, and actionable recommendations.

• Use advanced SQL and deep analytical rigour to evaluate customer behaviour, product performance, feature adoption, funnels, cohorts, and marketplace outcomes across complex datasets.

• Build persuasive, insight-led narratives that connect data, customer context, product trade-offs, and business impact for both working teams and senior stakeholders.

• Partner with product, engineering, design, operations, and peer analytics teams to shape priorities, align stakeholders, and drive decisions in areas where ownership or direction may initially be unclear.

• Lead measurement and learning for product tests and launches, including defining metrics, developing dashboards, diagnosing performance, and recommending the next course of action.

• Create and maintain scalable dashboards, scorecards, and analytical assets that enable consistent performance tracking and self-service decision-making.

• Proactively identify emerging customer problems and business opportunities, move beyond the immediate ask, and influence the product roadmap through evidence-based insights.

• Improve analytical quality by establishing clear metric definitions, validating data, documenting assumptions, and ensuring that conclusions are methodologically sound and decision-ready.

What you will bring Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative field.

• Strong storytelling ability, with a demonstrated track record of turning complex analysis into simple, compelling narratives and clear recommendations for varied audiences.

• Advanced hands-on SQL skills and experience analysing large, complex, and imperfect datasets with a high degree of accuracy and analytical rigour.

• Exposure to A/B testing, causal inference, quasi-experimental methods, or structured test measurement.

• Ability to create intuitive, user-friendly dashboards and data visualisations using appropriate BI or analytics tools, with a strong focus on usability, clarity, and actionable insights.

• Experience in product analytics, including funnel analysis, customer journey analysis, feature adoption, segmentation, performance measurement, and insight generation.

• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to challenge assumptions, identify the real question behind an ask, and distinguish signal from noise.

• Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment and independently convert ambiguous or broad questions into practical analytical approaches and actionable insights.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence, and align senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.

• Self-driven, proactive, and outgoing working style, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to initiate conversations, surface risks, and move work forward without waiting for detailed direction.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards for data quality, methodology, and delivery.

• An AI-first mindset and interest in using AI-enabled tools to improve analytical productivity, synthesis, and decision-making.

Good to have

• Experience contributing to product or business strategy and influencing roadmap decisions through data and customer insights.

• Working knowledge of Python for exploratory analysis, automation, or prototyping.

• Experience with product analytics platforms such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar tools.

• Experience in e-commerce, online marketplaces, local commerce, search and discovery, payments, or consumer technology.
