As a Track Inspector you will be part of a dedicated close-knit team who support and take pride in maintaining the rail infrastructure connecting Brisbane Airport to the Queensland Rail network. Working within a small, highly experienced team, you will play a critical role in identifying defects, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining rail safety standards. Key responsibilities include –
• Inspect track infrastructure (sleepers, rail, ballast, turnouts, drainage systems, bridges, culverts, signage and the rail corridor) • Measuring and assessing track condition against prescribed standards • Diagnosing and reporting track defects, irregularities and potential safety issues • Perform fault finding, repairs, emergency maintenance activities • Applying and monitoring speed restrictions when required • Liaising with train control regarding track activities and operational irregularities • General maintenance across stations, offices and rail corridor • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a strong safety culture Required Skills and Experience Previous rail industry and rail maintenance experience is essential for this role. You will also have sound knowledge of rail safety principles and compliance requirements.
• Certificate II Rail infrastructure (essential) • Safely Accessing the Rail Corridor (SARC) • Working on Electrified Territory (WET) • Lookout • Examine Track Infrastructure • Visually Inspect Track Infrastructure • Pesticides/Herbicides Accreditation
• Construction white card • Current drivers licence • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment • Good communication skills (written and verbal) • Good computer skills You must have full working rights and can satisfy a Rail Category 2 medical and police checks as a requirement for the role.
