Job Title: Forklift Operator on first & 3rd shiftJob DescriptionThis outdoor forklift operator role is based in a large lumber yard and warehouse environment, where you will handle a variety of building materials using a sit-down propane forklift. You will work in all weather conditions, including hot summers, cold winters, rain, and snow, while safely picking, loading, and preparing materials for shipment on flatbed trucks.Responsibilities
• Operate a sit-down propane forklift to move, load, and unload materials such as wood flooring, wood decking up to 20 feet long, and PVC trimming. • Work from pick sheets to accurately locate, pick, and stage parts and materials for customer orders. • Prepare and secure loads on flatbed trucks to ensure safe and efficient transportation. • Perform general material handling tasks in the lumber yard and warehouse, including stacking, organizing, and relocating inventory as needed. • Shovel and plow the yard during winter conditions to maintain safe access and working areas. • Work primarily outdoors in the lumber yard, pulling parts and materials throughout the day. • Follow safety procedures and guidelines for forklift operation, material handling, and working in varying weather conditions. • Support general labor tasks as needed to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area. • Work required overtime when needed to meet operational and customer demands across assigned shifts. Essential Skills
• Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse, lumber yard, construction, roofing, landscaping, or similar environment. • Prior experience working in a warehouse environment with material handling responsibilities. • Ability to safely operate a propane-powered sit-down forklift for extended periods. • Experience picking orders from pick sheets and accurately staging materials for shipment. • Capability to handle long and heavy materials, including wood decking up to 20 feet in length. • Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. • Ability to perform general labor tasks such as shoveling and plowing the yard during winter. • Reliability to work scheduled shifts and required overtime as needed. • Experience working in environments similar to construction sites, roofing operations, or landscaping yards. • Comfort working in a large-scale warehouse and extensive outdoor lumber yard. • Ability to read and follow written pick sheets and basic documentation. • Strong organizational skills for staging and loading materials on flatbed trucks. • Capability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
