Job Title: Model FinisherJob DescriptionThe Model Finisher safely cleans and finishes additive manufactured parts to meet defined procedures and customer specifications. This role focuses heavily on grit blasting plastic and metal components, performing detailed finishing work, and identifying non-conforming parts while maintaining a clean, safe, and highly controlled work environment. The position involves repetitive, hands-on tasks that require strong attention to detail and consistent quality. Responsibilities • Perform finishing processes for additive manufactured parts in line with established procedures and customer specifications, including hand finishing, part cleaning, counting, measuring, sanding, grit blasting, polishing, and build breakouts. • Operate and handle a variety of tools such as calipers, sandpaper, tweezers, clippers, air guns, dremels, drills, soldering rods, and other appropriate hand and power tools to complete finishing tasks. • Use a computer workstation to review order and part information and accurately enter related data for each order. • Follow and complete all applicable checklists to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards. • Maintain a clean and safe work area and individual workspace, and assist with general cleanliness and maintenance of the facility. • Clean and help maintain machinery, tools, and equipment used in the finishing process. • Assist in the safe removal and disposal of contaminated materials according to established procedures. • Work in a self-guided manner within the assigned area, following assignments provided by leads or production leadership. • Identify non-conforming parts and collaborate with leads, quality inspectors, and other team members to address order or part quality issues. • Continually seek ways to improve work processes, efficiency, and individual performance in the finishing area. • Follow processes to maintain appropriate inventory and supply levels for finishing materials and tools. • Observe and follow all safety and quality policies and procedures, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and protective footwear. • Focus on grit blasting plastic and metal materials for the majority of the shift, performing repetitive tasks with consistent attention to detail. • Support both full-time and part-time production needs by reliably completing assigned finishing work within expected timeframes. Essential Skills • Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus on a single task for extended periods of time. • Excellent hand–eye coordination to perform precise finishing work using small tools and equipment. • Ability to work safely and confidently with sharp tools and objects, including hobby knives, utility knives, files, abrasives, rotary tools, general cutters, and similar equipment. • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, leads, and other departments. • Demonstrated service and quality focus, ensuring that finished parts meet defined standards. • Ability to comprehend and follow printed and on-screen instructions, as well as verbal direction from leads and supervisors. • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to understand work instructions, safety information, and production requirements. • Basic computer skills to navigate, review, and enter order and part information in a workstation system. • Comfort using hand and power tools for tasks such as sanding, deburring, blasting, polishing, and general finish work. • Ability to perform repetitive finishing tasks, including grit blasting, while maintaining consistent quality and accuracy. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous manufacturing experience, particularly in a production or finishing environment. • Craft-oriented experience such as jewelry making, woodworking, or similar hands-on hobbies that require precision and fine detail work. • Experience using measuring tools such as calipers and other precision instruments. • Experience working with plastics, metals, and powders in a production or finishing context. • Familiarity with grit blasting processes and equipment for both plastic and metal materials. • Experience with polishing, sanding, and other finishing techniques for small or intricate parts. • Availability for full-time work for at least three months, with potential for longer-term opportunities depending on business needs. • Availability for part-time or shorter-term work, such as three days per week, with potential for contract extensions based on scheduling and performance. The role involves repetitive finishing tasks, particularly grit blasting, for most of the shift and requires sustained concentration and attention to detail. Typical hours follow a weekday schedule, with shifts generally starting mid-morning and ending in the early evening. Employees follow established safety and quality procedures and use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and protective footwear, to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The facility is organized, clean, and supportive of both full-time and part-time schedules, offering a structured yet team-oriented atmosphere. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Morrisville, NC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
