Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Field Service Technician supports the successful installation, start-up, and ongoing performance of specialized filtration and separation equipment at customer sites across the agricultural industry. This role focuses on mechanical repair and service, particularly within corn wet milling, dry milling, and ethanol processing environments. You will lead on-site commissioning, perform detailed inspections, and ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and according to specification, while traveling extensively to domestic and international customer locations.Responsibilities
• Lead on-site start-up, commissioning, and optimization of mechanical and electrical systems for filtration and separation equipment. • Conduct detailed equipment checks and inspections to verify proper installation and readiness for customer operations. • Analyze and record performance data during equipment tests to confirm peak efficiency and compliance with specifications. • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment in the field to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal project teams to meet project timelines for newly installed equipment. • Create clear and concise technical reports, including punch lists, to support project closeout and ongoing service documentation. • Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and other technical documentation to guide installation, troubleshooting, and repairs. • Communicate effectively with customers and team members to explain findings, recommend solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction. • Maintain strong organization and time management to meet deadlines and support multiple projects simultaneously. • Travel extensively, including long-term domestic and international assignments, to provide on-site support and service. • Support high-quality repairs, custom builds, and comprehensive process support that uphold the organization’s reputation for engineering excellence. • Contribute to process improvements and optimization efforts that drive efficiency, sustainability, and operational success for clients. Essential Skills
• Experience in engineering, technical services, or a related field (degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience). • At least 2 years of field service experience working with mechanical systems, electrical systems, and high-speed rotating equipment. • Hands-on experience with mechanical repair in corn wet milling, corn milling, or ethanol processing environments. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and other technical documentation. • Familiarity with control panels, motor starters, AC/DC drives, and instrumentation. • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems in industrial environments. • Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance on field equipment. • Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple service assignments. • Ability to write clear technical reports and verbally communicate effectively with teams and customers. • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with extensive travel requirements (up to approximately 75%, including long-term domestic and international assignments). • Experience with programmable controllers and operator interface terminals. • Experience with hydraulics in industrial or processing environments. • Exposure to corn wet milling, dry milling, or ethanol production processes. • Comfort working with field service tools and equipment in industrial settings. • Ability to build rapport with customers and project stakeholders through professional communication. • Willingness and ability to travel heavily, including 50–75% throughout the Midwest and additional domestic and international travel as needed. • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with remote teams. The work is primarily in industrial processing facilities such as corn wet milling, dry milling, and ethanol plants, where you will interact with mechanical and electrical systems, high-speed rotating equipment, hydraulics, control panels, motor starters, AC/DC drives, and instrumentation. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring comfort with industrial conditions and a strong focus on safety, reliability, and efficient operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Missouri Valley, IA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $85280.00/yr.
