About the role:

The Department of Earth Science and Engineering, with funding from the Royal Society Faraday Discovery Fellowship, requires a Programme Manager to help deliver research from the SHANTI project, led by Associate Professor Jonathan Kingslake. SHANTI is an interdisciplinary research programme investigating Antarctic surface hydrology and its role in driving ice-sheet loss and sea-level rise, combining field observations, satellite data analysis, and numerical modelling, in collaboration with Northumbria University, British Antarctic Survey, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, University of Maine, and University of British Columbia.

You will have responsibility for organising and managing the project's activities, working closely with the Principal Investigator, effectively co-leading the project from a logistical and operational standpoint.

What you would be doing:

You will be responsible for the management of the project budget, , resource planning and review, and liaising with project partners to ensure timely financial and performance reporting. You will lead on the coordination of fieldwork logistics, equipment purchasing and shipping, events, and meetings. You will also work in conjunction with the Research and Finance Team assist with recruitment, onboarding, and appraisal processes for the project team.

What we are looking for:

Project/programme management experience, coordinating internal and external activities to meet deadlines. Experience of managing people and influencing the successful delivery of outputs, including engaging and directing complex groups of stakeholders and suppliers. Strong financial and budgetary management experience. Experience coordinating logistics for fieldwork, equipment, and international collaborations is desirable.
