About this role

The Faculty of Law is one of the world's leading institutions for legal research and teaching. We are seeking a proactive and experienced Finance Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the Faculty's financial management and ensuring that financial resources are used effectively to support the Faculty's objectives, academic activities, and strategies.

Working closely with a variety of colleagues across the Faculty, you will provide financial advice and management information to support planning and decision-making. You will oversee a wide range of financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, research grant administration, and compliance with University financial regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively, analysing complex financial information, and improving processes in a busy, changing, and intellectually stimulating environment.

The role offers significant responsibility and variety, with opportunities to contribute to strategic planning, support major academic initiatives, and work with colleagues across the wider University finance community.

At present, the University is undergoing an institutional change in its financial processes, practices, and systems. As such, a successful applicant would be expected to play a large role in facilitating the changes, including liaising with central Finance Division colleagues, communicating important information to Faculty staff, and quickly learning new systems.

Key responsibilities

With the Deputy Faculty Manager (Finance, Research & Facilities Management), produce and analyse management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support effective financial planning and decision-making across the Faculty.

Provide financial advice and guidance to a variety of stakeholders within the Faculty, budget holders and colleagues on financial planning, policies and procedures.

Monitor income and expenditure, identify financial risks and opportunities, and support the development of financial plans and cost-saving initiatives.

With the Research Grants Administrator and relevant academic colleagues, manage and monitor research grant expenditure, providing advice on funding, budgeting and compliance requirements.

Ensure Faculty financial procedures comply with University regulations and contribute to the review and improvement of local processes and controls.

Maintain the integrity of financial data, undertake reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and support financial reporting requirements.

Act as a key liaison with the School of the Humanities & Social Sciences Finance Team, the University's Finance Division and contribute to University-wide finance initiatives and networks.

Support and oversee day-to-day finance operations in the Faculty, including purchasing, invoicing, and other financial system processes.

Line manage the Faculty's Finance Administrator role, working closely with the position to carry out all functions of the Finance office.

About you

You will have substantial experience in a finance role, excellent analytical and organisational skills, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and building effective working relationships across a diverse academic community. Experience of financial management within a higher education or similarly complex organisation would be advantageous.

Interviews will take place on 7th October 2026 at the Faculty of Law.
