An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Admissions Team for an enthusiastic Echo/Admissions coordinator.
The role will facilitate the delivery of timely, accurate echo and admission bookings for Royal Marsden Patients. The successful candidate will be responsible to booking and co-ordinating all Echo bookings across Chelsea and Sutton sites, ensuring that all Echo appointments are scheduled in an efficient and timely manner, so that results can be made available to fit with the patient's pathway. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting bookings from referrals for RMH surgical procedures, including booking appropriate swab and pre-assessment appointments. Working across two sites in a busy and dynamic Hospital, with a base in the Sutton branch, this role will work as part of a small, dedicated admissions booking team, covering NHS and PP procedures.This role will be supported by a Team Leader and an Admissions Manager who will work closely with you and the rest of the team to ensure a consistent and robust bookings service is always maintained.
This role is based in Chelsea, cross covering Sutton (Ad hoc working in Sutton maybe required in times of cover) and work shift patterns (8:30am-4:30pm; Monday to Friday).

Main duties of the job
The Admissions Team provides a streamlined service for all patients (both NHS and Private) requiring elective admission to The Royal Marsden Hospital sites in Sutton and Chelsea. The team coordinates all aspects of the admission process, including the booking of pre-operative appointments and liaising with Private Care to ensure funding is secured. Ensure all Echo appointments are scheduled in an efficient and timely manner, so that results can be made available to fit with the patient's pathway. The post holder will provide cover for the APU reception desk when required and will be required to handle enquiries from patients, their careers and Trust and non-Trust staff in person or by telephone. Within this role the administrator will be responsible for the co-ordination of all elective medical and surgical admissions. They will process all referrals in line with the Standard Operating Procedure and Trust Policy. Additionally, they will liaise with NHS and PP schedulers/secretaries both within and outside the Trust. The post-holder will be the first point of contact for clinical teams in their request to secure an elective admission for patients. They will work with the clinical staff in Theatres, CCU and Admissions to ensure maximum patient numbers are not exceeded.

To deal with all Echo referrals from clinicians and nursing staff within the unit ensuring that the appointment is scheduled within an appropriate clinical time frame taking into account clinical priority and 6 week waiting times targets. To monitor the @echoappointments inbox and action appropriately. To schedule, reschedule Echo bookings and appropriately deal with DNA by communicating to the relevant requester/teams. To make courtesy reminder calls to patients booked in for Echo within 48 hours to confirm attendance. To ensure all slots are filled to ensure full utilisation of lists. To liaise directly with the patient regarding their appointment, either verbally or in writing, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the scanning experience. To be responsible for ensuring that patients are given appointment letters and patient information sheets where relevant. When necessary, to liaise with the clinical, technical, nursing or coordinating staff to prioritise the scheduling of new referrals. To reschedule appointments for patients whose scan has been cancelled or delayed. To handle all enquiries, in person or by telephone in a polite and confident manner, referring callers to the appropriate staff when unable to help.

Education/Qualifications Essential
Good educational background Minimum experience of working in a hospital or relevant setting Previous NHS experience Numeracy and computer literacy Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English Completion of Medical terminology course and implementing learnings into a practical context.
