About this role

Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Trustees Location: Stratford-upon-Avon / Hybrid Remuneration: Voluntary Trustee roles. Reasonable expenses reimbursed.

Help shape the future of one of the world's most significant cultural and heritage charities.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust cares for the world's greatest Shakespeare heritage sites and collections, inspiring people from across the globe to explore and enjoy Shakespeare's life, works and legacy.

As the Trust embarks on an ambitious new 10-year creative vision and masterplan, we are seeking to appoint two new Trustees to join our Board. These appointments will strengthen our collective expertise as we continue to safeguard Shakespeare's heritage, grow our public impact and ensure the organisation's long-term sustainability.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring strategic expertise in one of the following areas:

Legal & Governance

Fundraising & Development

As Trustees, you will contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the Trust, providing constructive support and challenge while helping to protect and enhance one of the world's most important cultural and heritage organisations.

For our Legal & Governance appointment, we are interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as charity law, corporate governance, commercial law, property law or related disciplines.

For our Fundraising & Development appointment, we welcome candidates with experience of philanthropy, fundraising, income generation, donor engagement, partnerships or organisational growth.

Previous Trustee experience is welcomed but not essential. We would be delighted to hear from people considering a first Trustee appointment who can bring relevant expertise, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to our mission.
