About this role
Endorsements: Michigan Teacher Certification 6-12 endorsement required in one of the following combinations: CX, RX and CE, CA, CB/CC, CD and CE Salary: $28.00 per hour or per WWEA agreement for members Schedule:
• 5 Hours per week total
• Thursdays
• 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM includes 1/2 hour prep
Summary:
• Provide classroom facilitation and student instruction in self-paced learning center Adult Education classroom at both Adult Basic Education and High School Completion/Equivalency levels in the following courses: Civics/Government, Economics, Native American History, Psychology, Sociology, Street Law, US History & Geography, and World History
• Work with adults and at-risk students in a cooperative learning environment
• Participate with other instructors in curriculum development within Michigan content standards guidelines and College and Career Readiness standards
• Effectively manage classroom with regards to student participation, behavior, NRS assessment testing, and record-keeping responsibilities
• Monitor attendance and assist in compiling student data for periodic grant accountability reports
Qualifications:
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate required, appropriate 6-12 endorsement required
• CX, or
• RX and CE, or
• CA, CB/CC, CD, and CE
• Successful teaching experience with adult and/or alternative student population
Additionally:
• Personal commitment to goals of modern Adult and Community Education and high school completion programs, including credit recovery
• Demonstrate ability to integrate current technology into classroom experience
• Demonstrate ability to design and/or modify curriculum to best meet instructional needs of Adult Education population within Michigan content standards
• Working knowledge of accountability practices for grant reporting
• Subject to professional development requirements
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
• Other duties as assigned
