Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Machinery manufacturer. Metal product fabrication industry. Sheet metal shop. Tasks: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Document work completed. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal. Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Overhead Crane Certification. Forklift Operator Certification. Equipment and machinery experience: Drills. Lifting device. Overhead crane. Power presses. Saws. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending. Punching. Straightening. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available.
