Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 part-time Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetic Assistant in the Swansea Integrated Community Resource Team. We are a small, enthusiastic, friendly and supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists and Dietitians. This role provides opportunities to deliver Speech and Language Therapy Services (communication and dysphagia) and Dietetic services across Swansea to wide range of adult clients including those living with MND, Parkinson's disease, Dementia, Huntington's disease, PSP, and MSA. You will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of a specialised SLT/Dietetic service to people in their own homes and nursing homes and will be part of a dynamic multi-professional team including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, District Nurses and Social Workers.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to:-
work within and adhere to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the BDA ...in conjunction with local policies, procedures and guidelines support the clinical therapy work of qualified speech and language therapists and dietitians assist in all aspects of the speech and language therapy/dietetic assessment and treatment process use technical and creative skills to prepare resources & deliver therapeutic interventions for individual patients carry out a range of administrative and clerical duties related to the therapy interventions undertaken Work well within the team, being a good team player and organise time effectively. The post holder will need to be motivated and enthusiastic, and have the resilience to work well under pressure

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential
Clinical Health Care Support qualification Level 3 / NVQ level 3 or equivalent Good literacy and numeracy skills Nutritional knowledge including nutritional support in older adults
Desirable
IT qualification e.g. ECDL Range of formal and informal training/short courses in speech and language therapy related to adult client group or Nutrition e.g. Agored Cymru Community Food and Nutrition Skills Level 2 Teaching or training qualification Knowledge and experience of augmentative and alternative communication and total communication
Experience Essential
Experience and knowledge of Health and Safety issues Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant in a health care or social care setting Experience of working with vulnerable adults and those with complex needs Experience of obtaining anthropometric measurements e.g weight, height and BMI Accurate keyboard skills- inputting data, word processing, internet and dietary analysis Experience of using windows, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and outlook packages Ability to use mobile devices i.e. iPads to work remotely as needed Able to work single handedly with individuals under the direction of Registered therapist and as part of a team
