About this role

Job summary

The Heart Centre is a small team based within Harrogate District Foundation Trust, performing cardiac investigations that include Coronary Angiograms, Trans-oesophageal Echocardiograms, Dobutamine stress echo tests as well as insertion of devices such as Permanent Pacemakers and ILR Devices. Procedures for other departments are also undertaken as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deputise for the unit manager for the catheter laboratory team and adhere to high professional standards of patient care and effective service delivery within the Heart Centre.

The post holder will deputise for the operational and managerial responsibility for Heart Centre involved in all aspects of the patient care from admission to discharge both in the lab and in recovery. A successful candidate will support with the training and clinical supervision of staff nurses in the Heart Centre. The post holder will be involved in setting the strategic direction for future activity in the Heart Centre in conjunction with the heart centre unit manager, Matron, Cardiology Consultant Team and the Chief Cardiac Physiologist.

The post holder will liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the Cardio-Respiratory department and with those in other departments including the general ward areas.

The post holder will be involved in performing clinical audit and risk management whilst acting as a role model and uphold the values and behaviours of The Trust.

Qualifications Essential

Recent experience working within a cardiology setting Teaching or mentorship qualification- or working towards Registered Nurse or qualified cardiac physiologist

Advanced cardiology course

Experience Essential

oExperience working as a senior staff nurse oAbility to work unsupervised at times oExperience of team working oSupervisory experience
