Position Title: Installation Technician IV

Work Location: Chesapeake, VA FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REQ#26_08126D

Summary of duties – Installation Tech IV possesses a vast understanding of NAVSEA installation processes, the use of common hand tools, an ability to instruct / oversee others, and the use of general-purpose test equipment. Also, as a senior team member, must be thoroughly familiar with and understand a Quality Management System. This includes QMS forms checkpoint entries as well as oversight and ensuring strict adherence to technical standards are being maintained. Tasks are accomplished as assigned by the Installation Supervisor and in accordance with company work instructions. Periodically required to lift/move equipment up to and including 50 pounds. Additional duties and/or responsibilities of other positions may also be assigned for which qualifications are met.

Specific description of duties –

• Responsible for pre and or post cableway inspections and possess the knowledge to correctly annotate discrepancies.

• Display total competence in wiring knowledge, troubleshooting and electrical forms documentation.

• Must have an extensive knowledge of Prism’s Quality Management System and must also be comprehensively familiar with systems removal and installation to include but not limited to the following:

• HVAC ducting, piping etc

• Cabling (copper and fiber)

• Equipment racks

• Lockers / Furniture

• Fiddle boards

• Connection boxes

• Power panels

• Lighting

• Antennas / Radomes

• Foundations

• Waveguide

• Decking

• Multi pin / Fiber Optic / RF and other type connectors

• Cable tags / Wire markers

• Problem Solving / Troubleshooting

• Cableway Specifications (MIL-STD)

• Specialized Power/Hand Tools (Mag Base, Pneumatic Crimpers, Lug Crimpers)

• WAF processes

• MCT/MCP, Collars, Kick tubes, and penetrations testing requirements

• HAZMAT chain of custody and or disposal protocols

• Able to read, interpret, and perform all facets of installation from SIDs

• Grounding/Bonding requirements

• Confined Space Procedures

• Hot and or Cold work processes / documentation requirements

• Overtime is routinely required but not guaranteed

• Travel outside the local area may be required

• Perform any other assignments, to include medium level supervision of subordinates, or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives and goals.

Education / Specialized training –

• HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations.

• Apprenticeship, Associates degree or trade school certificate in related field and 5 years related experience.

• Non-degreed or non-Trade School graduates must have 7 years directly related technical experience in installation, modification, field change, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and or repair of various military combat systems.

Security Clearance –

• Must be U.S. citizen.

• Clearance up to secret level may be required.

Certification / Licenses (as required for the task being performed)

• Cableway certification

• Multi-pin connector certification

• Fiber Optic connector certification

• Fire watch certification

• CPR / First Aid

• PAI

Physical/Environmental Job Requirements –

Physical requirements include the following:

• Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds

• Routinely climbing several flights of stairs

• Performing tasks in confined spaces

Our work is primarily onboard naval vessels that may include variables of physical activity, i.e. stooping, climbing, walking, etc.

In performing these duties, you may be required to work outdoors. You will experience temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.
