Position Title: Production Control Engineer I, II, III

Work Location: Chesapeake, VA FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt REQ#26_082103

Summary of duties – The Production Control Engineer supports higher Production Control Engineers and the Fabrication Shop. They are responsible for receiving and issuing material shipped to or from the Fabrication Shop. Initiating new fab order workflows for projects and scheduling impacts according to production needs. Develop and review production plans with the Production Control Manager for approval and monitor production plan execution. The planner provides production status updates to management and facilitates the timely delivery of products to customers. They should be able to closely monitor the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget.

Specific description of duties:

Level I

• Organizes issuing and receiving material

• Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and within budget.

• Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.

• Create work packages and other production information needed to be executed to plan.

• Create CNC programs for machines as required.

• Keep paperwork organized.

• Collaborate with shop floor management, warehouse, and other staff.

• Identifies, analyzes, and reports performance variances to management.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals.

Level II

• Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple products.

• Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.

• Project equipment and raw materials as needed to cover production demand.

• Assign worker centers for production operations.

• Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and within budget.

• Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.

• Create work packages and other production information needed to be executed to plan.

• Create CNC programs for machines as required.

• Keep paperwork organized.

• Produces metrics for plans and schedules for projects, programs, and change activities across the lifecycle of a program.

• Works with Program Managers to develop performance recovery plans and incorporate recovery plans where appropriate.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals.

Level III

Education / Specialized training –

Level I

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education or with (1) years minimum related work experience with a H.S. diploma.

• Must have a H.S. diploma.

• One (1) years minimum reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Level II

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education or with (3) years minimum related work experience with a H.S. diploma.

• Must have a H.S. diploma.

• One (1) year minimum experience with MS Project scheduling.

• Two (2) years minimum reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

• One (1) years minimum Forklift experience

Level III

• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education or with (6) years minimum related work experience with a H.S. diploma.

• Must have a H.S. diploma.

• One (1) year minimum experience with MS Project scheduling.

• Three (3) years minimum reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

• Three (3) year minimum with estimating project requirements.

• Two (2) years minimum Forklift experience

Additional Skills and other Notes:

• Knowledge and use of AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, or similar software.

• Knowledge of CNC machines.

• Understanding of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for each task.

• Possess an understanding of production procedures, planning procedures, material requirements, adherence to technical instructions/directives.

• Experience as a production planner.

• Knowledge of material types and grades.

• Knowledge of quality control principles.

• Knowledge of MRP (Manufacturing resource planning).

• Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• High school diploma: Further education or certification is preferred but not required.

Security Clearance –

• Ability to obtain clearance but not required.

• Must be a U.S. citizen

Certification / Licenses (as required for the task being performed)

• Diploma required for listed formal education.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) designation desired but not required.

Physical/Environmental Job Requirements

Physical requirements include the following: May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
