About this role

General Description: The After-School Childcare Coordinator is responsible for the daily coordination, administration, and oversight of the school division's after-school childcare program. The Coordinator ensures that the program provides a safe, engaging, well-organized, and supportive environment for students while maintaining compliance with all applicable school division policies, state regulations, licensing requirements, and program expectations.

The Coordinator works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, childcare staff, families, and community partners to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the program.

Requirements:

• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience, program coordination, or childcare management

• Experience working in a public school setting is preferred

• Experience with state licensing requirements

• Knowledge of working with subsidies

• Current CPR/First Aid certification

• Strong communication skills to work with multiple schools, families, and agencies

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Essential Job Functions:

• Coordinate and oversee the daily operation of the after-school childcare program.

• Develop and maintain daily schedules, student activities, staffing assignments, and program routines.

• Ensure appropriate supervision of students at all times and maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment.

• Coordinate student dismissal, transportation, pickup procedures, and authorized release of students.

• Monitor enrollment and maintain appropriate student-to-staff ratios.

• Establish procedures for emergencies, student injuries, illnesses, and other safety concerns in accordance with school division policies.

• Ensure that program spaces are clean, organized, safe, and appropriately equipped.

• Coordinate the use of school facilities and ensure that program activities are compatible with school operations.

• Assist with the recruitment, screening, onboarding, and training of after-school childcare staff and substitutes.

• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, performance, certifications and compliance with program expectations.

• Communicate staffing concerns or performance issues to the appropriate school division administrator.

• Provide ongoing professional development and training related to student supervision, safety, behavior management, and program procedures.

• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for students.

• Plan and/or coordinate academic support, enrichment, recreational, and social activities.

• Implement appropriate behavior management strategies consistent with school division policies and communicate with school personnel regarding student needs and other relevant information.

• Follow all procedures related to student confidentiality, safety, supervision, and release.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding the after-school program.

• Communicate program policies, schedules, fees, expectations, and changes to families in a timely and professional manner.

• Manage the financial responsibilities of the program.

• Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians.

• Address parent questions and concerns and refer issues to the appropriate administrator when necessary.

• Coordinate with approved community organizations, vendors, and partners supporting the program.
