Job SummaryYou will serve as a Supervisory Nuclear Engineer in the Special Materials Identification Code Engineering Branch (SMIC), Nuclear Material Manager Division of the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience organizing and leading teams, to plan and execute complex projects, resolve highly complex technical issues, and integrate the work of several support organizations to meet schedule dates. Experience of naval shipyard and intermediate maintenance facilities, NAVSEA and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program organizations. Experience in nuclear engineering associated with Nuclear and Non-Nuclear ship repair, conversion and maintenance engineering disciplines such as, mechanical, electrical and structural. Experience with collective bargaining agreements affecting assigned area of responsibility and workforce. Major DutiesYou will provide technical supervision of engineering operations and testing of nuclear reactor plant systems for servicing ships.You will analyze test results to determine necessary changes to nuclear reactor plant systems or operational procedures.You will implement appropriate planning, direction, and timely execution of testing and operations.You will evaluate requests to perform maintenance, repair, or overhaul work on reactor plant components (mechanical, structural, and electrical).
