Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Level of expertise: Operator. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Adjust, repair or replace parts using hand tools and equipment. Resolve itinerary and other problems. Notify supervisor or mechanic of equipment malfunctions. Program CNC machine tools. Computer and technology knowledge: Programming software. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Equipment and machinery experience: Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
