Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Metal product fabrication industry. Structural steel fabrication company. Sheet metal fabrication shop. Tasks: Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Set up machines. Operate small cranes to transport or position larger parts. Operate machines and equipment. Operate forklift. Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Equipment and machinery experience: Drills. Lifting device. Overhead crane. Shears. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending.
