Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Metal product fabrication industry. Tasks: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Equipment and machinery experience: Brakes. Drills. Lifting device. Overhead crane. Shears. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Shearing machines. Brakes and presses. Press brakes and metalworking equipment. Tool and die fabrication experience: Metal cutting, forming or bending dies. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending. Cutting machine.
