Requirements: Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering / Data Integration.Hands-on experience with at least one of Pentaho, Talend, or Denodo.Strong SQL skills.Experience designing and developing ETL/data integration pipelines.Good understanding of data modelling and database technologies.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience with multiple technologies from Pentaho, Talend, Denodo, and SAS is desirable.Experience with SAS for data processing, analytics, or reporting is desirable.Jenkins, Git, Docker, and/or Kubernetes experience is desirable.Experience with automated testing and deployment is desirable.Previous experience working on government or large-scale public sector programmes is desirable.Experience working with sensitive or regulated data is desirable.Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience is desirable. We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a major public sector programme in Telford on a hybrid basis, with 2 days per week onsite. This is a 6-month contract at £465 per day inside IR35, and the role is SC clearance eligible. You will join our Data Acquisition Team, helping to ingest, integrate, and transform data from a wide range of sources into a strategic SAS-based platform that supports high-impact programmes across HMRC, including Making Tax Digital (MTD), Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA), and risk-based initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale, business-critical data platform supporting major government programmes.
