Band 7 Occupational Therapist - Clinical Specialist Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Management

ACTIVATE Team, E&N Hertfordshire, Kingsway Health Centre, Stevenage/Hitchin

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, creative and specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team.

ACTIVATE is a multi-disciplinary community team consisting of Clinical Psychologists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, GP's with extended role and an administrator. We provide highly specialist assessment and intervention for adults with CFS and / or persistent pain.

ACTIVATE adopts a primarily hands off approach to treatment which is aimed at motivating and educating service users to manage their condition more effectively and utilises both individual and group based interventions. Close multi-disciplinary working within the team, is a key part of the service delivery and the successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in the delivery of the Chronic Fatigue Management Programmes as well as offering individual and joint treatment sessions with other team members.

ACTIVATE team form part of the integrated community MSK Services working alongside the MSK Physiotherapy team and the MSK Clinical , Assessment and Treatment Service (MSKCATS). The post will also involve close liaison with relevant medical consultants, GP's and other health care professionals.

Main duties of the job

It is expected that applicants will have excellent communication skills and experience in delivering interventions to both individuals and groups. As educating and working with other professionals is an expected and integral part of the role experience of, and a commitment to, multi-disciplinary working is essential. Regular supervision and CPD opportunities will be provided by the Lead Clinical Psychologist within the service.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and have access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

To provide advanced clinical expertise across the service area, participating in the development of professional competences and participation in professional appraisal systems. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

HCPC Registered Practitioner. BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent e.g. Diploma o Evidence of advanced clinical continuing professional development o Evidence of advanced clinical continuing professional development relevant to the role Specific post graduate study in pertinent specific area to Masters level or equivalent Significant previous relevant clinical experience related to the role Demonstrable previous experience in a clinical advanced role.

Experience Essential

Experience in related fields at senior specialist level e.g. CFS, Personalised care planning, Cognitive behavioural therapy Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team Experience of treating high risk patients Good organisational skills Knowledge and experience of governance systems and processes High level of knowledge and understanding of NHS, social care and education clinical policy
