Job summary
We are looking to recruit a youth counsellor to our short-term counselling service for young people aged 12-24. The service works across the West Surrey and North East Hampshire area, covering 4 CCG's. The successful candidates will develop and provide a counselling service for young people aged 12-24 in GP practices, schools, colleges and other youth settings.
Main duties of the job
To develop and provide a counselling service for young people aged 12-24 in GP practices, schools, colleges and other youth settings.This includes:o Working as a specialist Counsellor with a vulnerable client group, with a clinical responsibility for their welfare.o Giving specialist advice across 4 CCG's and other organisations.o Contributing to strategy development regarding young people and mental health.o Clinical responsibility for managing a client case load.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree or equivalent academic ability Recognised qualification in counselling to diploma level BACP Accreditation (or achievable within six months from appointment)
Experience Essential
At least 2 years' experience of working with young people in a youth setting Experience of counselling Young people Understanding of child protection policy and procedures.
Desirable
Knowledge of the importance of mental health issues clinically, practically and ethically in relation to counselling young people Specialist knowledge and understanding of a wide range of therapeutic approaches
