Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Specialty Doctor to join our Neighbourhood Mental Health (NMH) Services division, working within Mole Valley in East Surrey under the supervision of an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist.

Main duties of the job

This vacancy has arisen as newly introduced post into the team's medical establishment. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in the Trust's weekly academic programme and will have opportunities to engage in research, leadership activities, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

You will be part of a dynamic, innovative, & supportive multidisciplinary team (MDT), have access to a weekly Trust-wide academic programme.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification. Full medical registration with a license to practice. Obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures. If any doctor is not section 12 approved, a discussion will occur between the appointed doctor and the Associate Medical Director for Research & Development.

Desirable

MRCPsych or equivalent Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.

Eligibiltiy Essential

Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience Essential

Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice. Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty Make decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams. Knowledge of psychiatric provision

Desirable

Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course. Published audit or research projects

Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning Essential

Ability to take a clinical leadership role in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care. Ability to appraise own performance as a Speciality Doctor and reflect on development needs
