About this role
Harbor is seeking a Vocational Specialist to join the Cincinnati team! This position is responsible for vocational assessment, employment readiness instruction, job search support, resource navigation, and employer engagement services.
Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, human resources management, education, or a closely related behavioral or mental health field from an accredited college or university; or
• Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience:
• Experience providing employment support services, human resources, recruiting and staffing, or working as an educator as follows:
• Bachelor's degree: minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Associates degree: minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• No degree: minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Licensure and Certifications:
• CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI certifications are required within 90 days of employment.
• Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor's vehicle insurance carrier.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Licensed as a CRC, LSW or LPC in Ohio.
• Experience providing employment support services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:
• Maintains complete, accurate, and timely electronic records, including progress notes, assessments, job placement forms, employer job orders, incident reports, and related service documentation.
• Develops, updates, and monitors each customer's Individualized Service Plan (ISP) and meets established productivity expectations for billable services.
• Completes vocational assessments to identify work history, educational background, employment goals, strengths, barriers, and service needs.
• Assists customers in exploring vocational interests, skills, aptitudes, and employment options, including the impact of work on public benefits and financial supports.
• Revises service plans based on customer progress, identified barriers, and changing support needs.
• Follows established crisis prevention, intervention, and inpatient pre-screening procedures.
• Provides welcoming, responsive service to job seekers and employers accessing employment services onsite and in the community.
• Delivers instruction and coaching in job search strategies, online resources, career exploration, resume development, interviewing, workplace readiness, and employment retention.
• Facilitates workshops, supports customer engagement, and assists with community outreach, hiring events, job fairs, and employer-focused services.
• Promotes professional representation of Harbor and uses agency communication tools appropriately for business-related coordination.
• Develops employment opportunities and supports customers in obtaining, maintaining, and advancing in employment.
• Collaborates with community partners and employers to coordinate services, strengthen referral relationships, and connect customers with appropriate resources and supports.
• Assists customers in accessing essential community and vocational resources, including OOD, ODJFS, and BWC.
