About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Registered Nurse to work in the Ophthalmology Outpatients department.

The role requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own clinical skills in line with progressive service delivery, involving supporting consultation clinics and minor operative procedures, contributing to maintaining patient safety, quality care and standards.

You will require excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop your management and leaderships skills including supporting staff development.

You will deliver and participate in as required, clinical supervision and reflective learning in accordance with Trust Policy

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic trained nurse to assist with the delivery of high standards of care.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate skills and knowledge such as:

Chaperoning, being patient advocate.

Assisting in procedure clinics and supporting patient recovery.

Supporting various Ophthalmology clinics

Supporting the development of new staff.

Supervision and assessment of students.

Communicating with patients, their families/carers and staff.

Time management

Basic level of leadership skills/experience.

Skills & Abilities Essential

Evidence of ability to practice as competent practitioner. Evidence of ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors. Evidence of ability to manage time effectively and prioritise case load. Demonstrate an understanding of and contribution to quality improvement. Demonstrate and understanding of information governance and confidentiality Demonstrates and understanding of clinical governance Understanding of clinical governance and its requirements especially risk management.

Education, Qualifications & Training Essential

Registered Adult Nurse Evidence of current CPD

Kowledge & Experience Essential

Understanding of professional and current issues in nursing. Experience of working in ophthalmology/ outpatient setting. Minimum of 6 month's post registration experience
