About this role

Job summary

Provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family. Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.

Report any concern regarding patient care.

Be able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and able to adhere to them.

Ensure appropriate information is available on the ward for patients and visitors in relation to health promotion.

The post holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and health service businesses in accordance with Trust Confidentiality Policy and the Data Protection Act.

Liaise with other staff, and volunteers to ensure the effective running of the service

Main duties of the job

1. To assist qualified staff in facilitating Patient flow/wards and patients in a timely and safe discharge process.

2. To participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care to patients under the direction of registered nurse.

3. To report patient condition to qualified staff.

4. To seek clarification from trained staff whenever the post holder is uncertain about their responsibilities or duties at any time.

5. To provide a friendly, effective reception, service to patients

6. Support and assist discharge lounge staff nurse in the day-to-day management and contribute to the care environmenTt

Education/ Qualifications Essential

oEducated to GCSE/GCE O Level (or equivalent, inclusive of English and Math) or demonstrate experience in a similar role oGood written and spoken English oGood verbal communication skills oAble to work in a team oBasic numeracy skills oA caring and compassionate attitude. oAn understanding of dignity and respect.
