Due to the expansion of the Special Needs School Nursing Team, we are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team as a Health Care Support Worker, within Children's Complex Needs Nursing Service in Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust.
You will have an NVQ3 in care or equivalent experience and be prepared to undertake further training. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to work independently, accessing supervision as required.
You will have significant experience of working with children/young people in health settings; particularly children/young people who have complex health and/or additional needs.
Main duties of the job
As a healthcare support worker, you will work alongside and under the direction of the school nurses with children/young people with complex and additional needs in the school setting.
Healthcare Support Workers contribute and support delivery of training to educational staff by the school nursing team. You will also support the school nurses as required to inform their health care assessment for children/young people. You will deliver health promotion packages of care to children and young people who attend the schools in the area you work in.
You will be experienced and confident using variety of IT systems as you will contribute to collection of service data.
It is essential you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work in partnership with the child/young person, their parent/carers, teachers and other health care professionals.
You must be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. You will need to be able to travel between schools/health care bases.

Qualifications Essential

Experience of IT systems and written skills. Experience of interacting with or working with children with complex health needs and neurodiversity.
