Main duties of the job
This post is for clinicians interested in working in Community Paediatrics in the Barking and Dagenham Specialist Children Service, based at the Child and Family Health Centre, 79 Axe Street, Barking, IG11 7L.
This is an existing post following previous investment by the place based ICB to enable us to deliver high quality care to children in care and support the increase in demand to deliver Community Paediatric services. A lot of transformation has taken place already and continues to take place in Barking and Dagenham community babies, children, and young people services. This is an existing post covered by fixed term doctor and bank staff and we wish to recruit into a substantive staff as soon as possible. Post holder will be expected to lead on a paediatric pathway based on their expertise and interest.
This is a part time post, substantive - 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) post with 6.5 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs).
On-call responsibilities:
There is no on call requirement at night, although the post holder will participate in a daytime on-call rota 9am - 5pm to deliver child protection medical examinations.

Main responsibilities
To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload in the day-to-day allocation of work. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes. To contribute to effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing, and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust’s risk register. The post holder will contribute to statutory work in assessing children in care for Initial Health Assessments and child protection medicals. They will also support management of complex Paediatric Neurodevelopment within the service. (including motor disorder, Down’s syndrome, dyspraxia, chromosomal and genetic conditions, and other syndromes).

Qualifications Essential
Registration with the GMC with a licence to practice
Desirable
Higher degree e.g. DCH, DCCH MSc, or MRCP
Experience Essential
At least 4 years post graduate training including community paediatrics (or demonstrate equivalent experience and competences ) Knowledge and training in Child safeguarding Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training.
Desirable
Specialist experience / training in particular area of CCH practice. Training in objective developmental assessment e.g. Griffith Developmental Scales. Training in Autism assessment e.g. DISCO or ADI/ADOS
