About this role

Job summary

The Women's Health Division is seeking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Receptionist to join their busy outpatient team at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing.

This is a full time role with a requirement to work weekends, an enhanced rate is paid to work Saturdays and Sundays.

Main duties of the job

The Receptionist for Outpatients reports to the Outpatients Service Manager. The post-holder has the following responsibilities: The job description includes a comprehensive list of duties including;

o Welcome patients and visitors into the department, ensuring they are made to feel comfortable and are treated with kindness, respect and dignityo Provide a high quality, comprehensive range of administrative and reception duties.o Deliver an excellent patient and user experience, by meeting and greeting patients, visitors and colleagues, registering patients and booking appointments in a timely and efficient manner.o Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of the department.

The successful candidate will be joining a busy and fast paced outpatient department and will have the opportunity to work with a range of clinical staff from several areas within Gynaecology including but not limited to:

Early Pregnancy Unit 2WW General Gynaecology Complex Mesh Urogynaecology Endometriosis RMU Ultrasound scanning

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills and be patient focused.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications Essential

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths. Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and/or previous experience of working in an administrative environment. Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services or equivalent qualification.

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of being able to respond to queries and deal with unpredictable situations as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 3 or equivalent). Experience of working in a customer facing environment, with knowledge of a comprehensive range of administrative procedures.
