Multiple Teacher Assistant Positions available for the 26-27 school year Teacher Assistant Certification Required Qualifications: Demonstrate or documented aptitude to work with all students, to include special needs and disadvantaged students Ability to perform basic clerical duties as needed in a classroom Demonstrate communication skills (i.e., oral and written) in a professional manner Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with peers and supervisors Must be a self-motivated individual, able to make responsible decisions and follow through with them To physically be able to meet the demands of the job Reports to: Building Principal Essential Job Functions: (may include one or all) Assist by supplementing lessons in individual or small groups Perform basic classroom duties Prepare materials for the classroom Supervise students during transitional times as directed by teacher Communicate with parents as instructed by teacher Supervise arrival and/or dismissal Assist in supervising of students during non-instructional time Administer formal and informal assessment (spelling test, etc.) scoring objective tests and written papers and keeping appropriate records Assist teacher in recording and charting information Assist teacher in behavioral management Attend IEP or staff meetings at the request of the building administrator Assist/perform personal care activities, to include, toileting, diapering and feeding routine Support students in the regular classroom Assist students with organization Assist students utilizing technology Assist with physical therapy and/or occupational therapy under the direction of the Teacher and/or Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist Assist other Teacher Assistant when applicable Maintain confidentiality Translate and interpret correspondence and other forms of communications Assist students in pool activity and assist students with dressing and undressing routine depending on students’ level of independence Assist students in the pool and assist students with dressing and undressing routine depending on the students’ level of independence. Experience preferred in working with students with significant behavioral and emotional issues.
